Partnership of science, industry, local government
and administration for the future of mining and regional transformation

The conference is organized as part of the
4th National Barbórka Miners’ Meeting 2025

International Scientific Conference „Sustainable Development Mining 2025 – Partnership of science, industry, local government, and administration for the future of mining and regional transformation.”

On behalf of the Faculty of Mining, Safety Engineering and Industrial Automation of the Silesian University of Technology, the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze, and the National Secretariat of Mining and Energy of the NSZZ ”Solidarność”, we have the honor of inviting you to the International Scientific Conference „Sustainable Development Mining 2025 – Partnership of science, industry, local government, and administration for the future of mining and regional transformation.” The event is organized by the Dean of the Faculty and will take place on December 11, 2025.

The objective of the Conference is to present the achievements of the scientific and industrial communities while developing and strengthening mutual cooperation. The thematic scope focuses on key challenges and innovative solutions for the future of the mining sector during the regional transformation period, emphasizing the collaborative partnership between local governments, administration, academia, and industry.

This conference is an integral part of the annual Barbórka (St. Barbara’s Day) celebrations, which have been organized at our Faculty for 75 years. It is a key element of the 4th National Barbórka Meeting of Miners 2025.

The National Barbórka Meeting, including our conference, has become an annual custom and festive tradition, not only for the coal mining community in Upper Silesia but for miners across all of Europe. We believe this initiative strengthens interpersonal bonds, builds intergenerational dialogue, and unites the community around mining traditions.
